ACTING FOR MORE SUSTAINABLE FASHION

Dass Group l Strategic Sustainability Planning until 2030

The theme “sustainability” was declared as part of the business strategy, being considered in all Dass Group decisions, with efforts aimed at its development and sustainable growth based on the connection between the economic, social and environmental pillars.

The Company defined its Strategic Sustainability Planning until 2030, with a plan that covers five pillars that are directly connected with six Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The contents are aligned with the main opportunities for reducing negative impacts and expanding positive impacts, by Dass Group and the communities that interact with the company in the coming years.

At Dass Group, sustainability is seen as a constant journey of learning and evolution. For the Company’s business context, the purpose of the Strategic Pillars of Sustainability is directly related to offering the best solutions in sustainable sporting goods for the 21st century, generating positive impacts for people, the planet and life on Earth; in addition to addressing the Dass Group’s competitive strategy and the possibility of differentiation in the market. Check out more about each of them below.

For Dass Group, it is not enough to be sustainable in how we produce, if what we produce is not sustainable. From Pillar 1, the company is committed to offering the best solutions in sporting goods with high performance, style, and sustainability for our customers, with products that innovate and challenge market standards by incorporating more ‘eco-friendly’,’ green’ concepts and technologies, ethics and socio-environmental responsibility.

This pillar is linked to SDG 12, which addresses sustainable production and consumption, focusing on global and local actions, such as achieving the efficient use of natural resources, managing chemical waste responsibly, caring for solid waste and reducing pollutants emissions.

Our guidelines:

Design Out Waste

  • We prioritize product design with fewer materials, waste reduction and maximum circularity.
  • Elimination of controversial inputs and use of pre- and post-consumer recycled materials.

Go Green

  • We seek to expand the use of low-carbon technologies, prioritizing materials of renewable natural origin.

Reverse Climate Change

  • Commitment to reducing, as much as possible, the carbon footprint of operations and our products by 2030.
  • Provide customers with active climate protection opportunities.

Wear Fair

  • Own manufacturing in Brazil and Argentina, ensuring traceability and ethical conduct.
  • Commitment to good social practices and fair remuneration for more than 26 thousand people in vulnerable areas.

From Pillar 2 onwards, it will be necessary to move away from the linear logic of exacerbated consumption and disposal of the 20th century, towards a circular logic where we eliminate waste and superfluity, reduce the need for packaging, prioritize inputs and recycled materials and guarantee maximum reuse of waste that would be discarded as trash.

Connected to SDG 13, this is a goal that will require investments in awareness, training and education in the communities in which Dass is located.

Our guidelines:

Circular Packaging

  • Elimination of unnecessary packaging and banning plastic.
  • Prioritization of 100% recycled materials and/or renewable natural origin.

Operation Zero Waste

  • Commitment to reducing waste, aiming for 90% reuse and/or recycling.
  • Focus on eliminating unnecessary separators, fillers, and packaging in the production process.

Circular Stores / E-commerce

  • Waste reduction targets in store and e-commerce operations.
  • Encouragement of reverse logistics and partnerships for recycling and upcycling of collected materials.

Dass Group is committed to being a low-carbon company by 2030, contributing significantly to the fight against climate change.

Pillar 3 connects with SDG 13, which gives importance to the resilience and adaptive capacity of human groups in the face of risks associated with climate and natural disasters. However, the central focus is to combat climate change and its impacts, through strategies focused on the low-carbon economy.

Our guidelines:

Low Carbon Operation

  • Commitment to sustainable production and a low-carbon growth model.
  • Investment in innovative technologies, materials and production models.

Net Zero Carbon Neutral

  • Challenge to reduce carbon as much as possible by 2030.
  • Prioritization of products with a smaller environmental footprint and clean operation with 100% renewable energy.

Achievements:

  • Use of electrical energy from 100% renewable sources via the free energy market, in all Dass Group manufacturing units in Brazil.
  • LEED certification of the Dass Apparel Creation Center buildings, located in Saudades/SP and the Buenos Aires/AR Office.

Ensuring ethics and social responsibility, based on Pillar 04, the Dass Group generates high employability with the guarantee of human rights, good working conditions, health and safety, income, access to basic services (health/education), and social benefits for to have a dignified life and possibilities for prosperity.

In this pillar, we can connect SDG 5, which deals with gender equality, with the empowerment of girls and women, as well as SDG 8, which focuses on the “world of work” and economic development.

More than 26 thousand jobs are created, most of them in municipalities with a Human Development Index (HDI) below the average in Brazil. As the main formal employer in these locations, Dass Group helps to combat inequality, generating decent work and fair remuneration in areas of greater poverty and social vulnerability, changing the local reality where there were no opportunities before.

This Pillar is also connected to SDG 10, which seeks to ensure income for the poorest populations, promote social inclusion and adopt wage protection policies. Decent employment, entrepreneurship and the value of creativity and innovation are themes that seek to encourage the formalization and growth of micro, small and medium-sized companies. A special concern is with work for specific social groups, such as women, people with disabilities and young people.
Furthermore, the goal proposes respect for labor rights, including those of migrants.

Our human development programs reach, in addition to our employees, their children, other family members and the local community. Whether through professional training, culture, health, education, and sport, Dass reaches all these audiences, opening up new opportunities to improve personal conditions and quality of life.

In relation to diversity, we are committed to equal opportunities and non-discrimination as levers of social inclusion. We encourage the measurement and adoption of practices that eliminate market stalls, respect and value diversity, guaranteeing equal conditions, benefits and rights, participation in management, listening channels and a welcoming environment.

Ensuring inclusion, respect and prosperity for the people who contribute to the fashion industry is one of our goals, as well as combating inequality and creating decent work.

Our guidelines:

Decent Work

  • Generation of jobs in areas of poverty, guaranteeing human rights and decent working conditions.
  • Human development programs that impact employees, children, and the community.

Diversity

  • Equal opportunities and non-discrimination as levers of social inclusion.
  • Encouragement of measurement and adoption of practices that value diversity.

The Dass Group, based on Pillar 5, is committed to ensuring ethical and anti-corruption principles throughout its own operations, including its workforce, suppliers, partners, and third parties, in addition to compliance with social, and environmental standards.

Connected to SDG 16, this Pillar seeks access to justice, public security and the promotion of a more peaceful society. Therefore, in this context, goals associated with reducing the global phenomenon of corruption come into play, in addition to social participation in institutions of power, where governance is integrated into development and poverty reduction processes.

As an innovative company, Dass Group wishes to be a leader in the necessary changes in the industry, contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable society. Therefore, we are integrating ESG aspects into the business’s management and decision-making processes. We built our materiality matrix with the engagement of the main stakeholders, taking into account their perspectives to define the main pillars and commitments of our sustainability strategy.

Furthermore, we are defining socio-environmental KPIs with indicators and goals to be incorporated into the company’s management processes, with periodic reports to the executive board ensuring integrated management of the TBL (Triple Bottom Line). We will invest in the education and engagement of our employees with the sustainability agenda, mobilizing and empowering our network to actively contribute to the necessary innovations and changes.

We believe that providing transparency to our results and the way we conduct our business is essential to building credibility and trust with our audiences. To this end, we are committed to increasing the transparency of our TBL practices and results, publicly disclosing the Dass Group’s progress in relation to its prioritized social, environmental and economic commitments, annually.

Integrating ESG aspects into the Dass Group’s management processes has been building a more inclusive and sustainable company.

S for Social: collaboration and positive impact on the community

We believe that the success of fashion should not only be measured in terms of aesthetics, but also by the bonds we build with the people who make up the company and the communities around us.

Dass Group is committed to promoting safe and inclusive work environments, where diversity is celebrated and human rights are respected. Our social responsibility goes beyond the fashion items we create, it extends to the lives we touch.

E for Environmental: respecting the planet, inspiring innovation

Dass Group’s environmental commitment is rooted in practices that respect our planet. We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint by adopting cleaner production processes, more sustainable materials and energy efficiency.

G for Governance: transparency and responsibility

We believe that solid governance is fundamental to building trusting relationships. Dass Group is committed to transparency in all its operations. From ethical supply chain management to integrity in business relationships, the Company believes that effective governance is the backbone of a sustainable and successful company.

Sustainability as
human purpose

Dass understands that companies that take a human, authentic and true stance at all points of contact in their value chain, sharing a unique and true purpose with society, are those that can actually create relationships that are deeper in meaning and, consequently, results. Therefore, Dass’ connection with sustainability is an invitation from the Company for this topic to be even more alive in the daily lives of the people who make up the company.

Sustainable Person Concept

Being a sustainable person means ensuring the needs of today, without compromising the future. It is the connection between the individual, their economic impact and the longevity of the planet they live on. Developing people who defend life and who carry with them values and attitudes that aim for a more prosperous, balanced, fair, diverse, and inclusive society is, therefore, what the Dass Group believes in and has been working towards over the years. People committed to their self-development, with education, ethical relationships, and respect for the environment as the basis of their existence in society, to guarantee the sustainable development of future generations.

Dass believes that each individual, in their particularity, and each family has the opportunity to add or reduce this. Therefore, everyone is invited to evolve in the search for healthy habits and opt for a sustainable life. Our efforts are focused on sustainable development, with everyone’s contribution.
